Rhombus: Properties and Formulas

Properties of Rhombus

1. All the sides of Rhombus are equal.
2. The opposite angles of a Rhombus are equal.
3. The adjacent angles of a Rhombus are 180 .
4. The diagonals of a Rhombus bisect each other at right angles.
                                          Or
The diagonals of Rhombus are perpendicular to each other.

Formulas of Rhombus

If ${{d}_{1}}$ and ${{d}_{2}}$ are the lengths of the diagonals of a rhombus ABCD, then

(i) Side of the Rhombus = $\frac{1}{2}\sqrt{d_{1}^{2}+d_{2}^{2}}$

(ii) Perimeter = 4 $\times (side)$ = $2\sqrt{d_{1}^{2}+d_{2}^{2}}$

(iii) Area = $\frac{1}{2}({{d}_{1}}\times {{d}_{2}})$
